Just wanted to start a discussion about what is going on with Stagecoach in the west of Scotland. Drivers at depots in Ayr, Ardrossan and Kilmarnock have voted in favour of strike action after rejecting pay offers that Unite says do not match the rising cost of living. At one point, Stagecoach even cancelled booked holidays for drivers which the union called a direct attack on staff.
The latest update is that strike action has been suspended while members vote on a new deal that has now been offered. Unite has made it clear that if Stagecoach does not deliver a fair offer the strikes will return.
It feels like this could still go either way. A lot of drivers are frustrated and it would not be surprising if more depots across Scotland start speaking up.
What do you all think?
Has Stagecoach handled this fairly or do you think the drivers should keep pushing?
Could we see something like this happening elsewhere?
