Strikes & Disputes GMB’s Steve Garelick backs Bus Drivers March for Public Safety 5th November 2025

Steve Garelick from GMB Union London has announced his full support for the Bus Drivers March taking place on 5 November.

In his message, Steve said the march will start in Islington and go all the way to TfL HQ at Palestra in support of drivers who are calling for a Bus Drivers Bill of Rights to be written into contracts.

He said drivers face daily abuse, poor management treatment and even shocking issues like cockroaches on buses. GMB is also pushing for a wider Drivers Charter that all bus operators should sign up to, ensuring proper protections and standards for everyone behind the wheel.

“Change needs to come. Many operators have not even signed up to the good work practice already in place from the Mayor of London. You’ve basically got a nightmare for workers. If you’re around on November 5th, we’d love to see you join us.”

This is a major show of support from one of London’s key unions. It’s good to see GMB standing alongside drivers in the fight for safety, dignity and fairness.
